Healthcare Datathon

The Healthcare Datathon is a collaborative, challenge-based event where teams uniting clinicians, data scientists, researchers and technologists construct data-based solutions to real-world health challenges. Teams innovate using expansive, de-identified healthcare datasets and machine learning (ML) tools in a weekend race against the clock.

With the final ideas pitched to a distinguished panel of judges, participants compete for ongoing data science support and data analysis tools that could further develop their potentially life-changing ideas.

The data sets, compiled with real patient data from Australian patients, cover a wide range of healthcare areas including ICU, emergency, outpatient, surgical, medical administration, diagnostic/pathology and imaging.

How it works

The Healthcare Datathon consists of a one weekend workshop and a separate pitch night. The workshops offer an opportunity for participants to collaborate and establish solutions to practical healthcare and medical research challenges, with the pitch night allowing groups to share their ideas with their cohort and a panel of experts.

Teams gain actionable feedback and, possibly, the support to develop their idea further.

In-person workshop

The event takes place face-to-face in concurrent cities - Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. The event will also be streamed virtually. Teams will be able to connect via the virtual platform.

National pitch night

Pitch your ideas to your cohort and a panel of expert judges.
